Everything goes to github.com/brechtknecht/Backseat/issues. Bugs, ideas, “it worked fine”, “this felt weird” — all of it.
What helps most
- What you did, step by step, and what you expected.
- Your game, and your Windows version and GPU.
- Whether the Backseat frame appeared when the game launched. This one fact cuts the possible causes in half.
- The logs — see below.
The logs
Right-click the Backseat tray icon → Open logs folder… and attach the whole files, not a line you picked out.
| What happened | Attach |
|---|---|
| Nothing shows up | overlay-clone.log and overlay-clone-bridge.log |
| Backseat opens but is blank | overlay-renderer-<number>.log |
| The tray service keeps stopping | backseat-supervisor.log |
| Not sure | All of them |
They contain what Backseat did, never what was on your screen or what you asked.
The three things we’d drop everything for
- Your game stopped taking input after Backseat crashed or was closed. It’s supposed to hand everything back on its own. If it didn’t, we want to know today.
- Windows asked for administrator rights. It never should.
- Backseat appeared in a game it shouldn’t have — anything with anti-cheat or multiplayer. Report it and stop playing that game with Backseat running.
